Movin' on!!

Finally done with sitting in class! This last monday I took my final exam for my in-class portion of my paramedic program. Now, I just have to complete all my field internship time and take my National Registry exam in December. The most annoying part, at least, is over. Chloe's doing much better with her job in the CCU and will soon be transferred over to working nights for September, which should actually be pretty nice because she'll have a much better schedule, and get paid more! With both of our schedules changing for the better, and "prime" season approaching in Rifle, things should be improving.
Chloe's mom and sister came through and visited us for a few days and enjoyed some good and not so good (a couple days of rain) Colorado Summer weather. They camped, we hiked, swam in the river and even went climbing together. Good times.
On the climbing side of things: Chloe sent "The Beast" rated 5.13a a few weeks ago. This route is a very powerful route with some big moves, but Chloe crushed it! ...And for me I sent "Living in Fear" rated 5.13d and known to be one of the hardest 13d's in Rifle canyon (a place known for its hard 13's). This route is considered by many to be more like 5.14a than 13d. It's a long power endurance route quoted in the local guidebook as a "race against exploding forearms." Soon after I also sent "Huge" another Rifle 13d. Next for me is "Zulu" rated at 5.14a, very powerful and long (we'll see how that goes), and Chloe started working on "Vision Thing" at 5.13b which is long with three distinct powerful cruxes separated by a couple good rests.
Here are a few pictures. Enjoy!
P.S. Corine and Fefe had to do a little skirt and pants switcheroo for the climbing action (see picture above)! Brendan-

Brendan a fini son projet, Living in fear 5.13d, et moi j'ai fini The beast 5.13a. Chloe-

Paramedic in the works

Well this will actually be my first post on our blog! Chloe has been the one faithfully in charge of it so far. I've been pretty occupied lately trying to become a paramedic! The process is moving along, but as many of you know: I hate school! I only have one short month left of in-class time, and then it's all field internship time! That means that I'll be working as a paramedic with various fire departments attempting to help people with their medical problems (scary thought, huh?). Any ways I need to apologize for the slowness of our blog lately but we've been just scrapping by to be able to make it out to our local climbing area (Rifle) a few times a week. Chloe's schedule is still pretty crazy as she continues through orientation in the CCU at the hospital. Things should get a little more active this fall and certainly life will take off again for some serious adventures as of December (when I graduate)!
Until next time, we'll keep climbing hard on our days off, and I wish you all the best :)

That day Brendan was working on Living in fear 13d (14a???), kicking his butt; and I was on The beast 13a, kicking mine!! and there are a few other climbs thrown in there too... to warm up :)

Family fun in Glenwood

My family came to visit for a week in April... Here are a few pics of skiing, biking, and climbing, and I put more on the kodak gallery website. My dad had to leave early, but the rest of the gang played here for a week, just before I started work in Grand Junction the next week... great timing!

Anatomy book cover, and more...

Last summer, my friend Paul from nursing school got me a connection to do a photo gig for an anatomy book cover. I did the photoshoot, and the book just came out. The cover is really cool, but you need to know it's me! I would hire my friend as a full-time agent, but he's almost done with nursing school, so we might just both be nurses instead... :) I just added the first cover I made... making the anatomy cover the second... This one was arranged by another friend, Tharcise! My Mom took care of the logististics on that one for me :P

Week-end in Indian Creek

Here is a "postcard" from our week-end in Indian Creek (Utah). It is finally spring over here (we think!), and we are really excited about climbing again! The drive was just about 4 hours, but well worth it, because it is a lot warmer in Utah, and we could climb in shorts and Tshirt (work ing on our tan, which for now is limited to our face from working on the slopes...) We climbed a bunch of desert cracks over a couple of days, and drove home to Glenwood. Within a few weeks, we'll be able to climb right here in Colorado, right in our backyard :) That's what we moved here for!!!! Keep in touch-- Love, Chloe.

A bientot-- Bises, Chloe.
